I know, I'm still playing with it... All of the built-in code is in html, and we can't use html in the Forums.

Maybe once it has data, I can figure out how to get it big, like here:

Do you know how to say:

"Click map to view updated, larger map."

I don't know how to say this in html, with MAP as a clickable link back here to the Forum.  I can only do it in Forum-code. lol

This is cool in that it's based on each visitor's IP address and not relying on them filling in the buddy map or the country in their profile.  But I'm afraid we might have too many hits per day and get kicked off. lol

html is a bunch of piss,
if you need other things then go to
www.whateverlife.com and go to myspace basics.

i know its myspace but they are the same as html if your in need and is easy!

Thanks, Laura!! :)  Now we wait to see it update. lol  It's supposed to update daily.  But if we're over 2,500 visits in a day, I think they'll boot us off or make me pay for it.

Let me quickly and easily explain to you how to get the large image into the forums post like that.

Wait untilt he Image is actually generated...  it takes a few days before they start updatign the image from time of creation...

Then go to the link again and whenj you see the image, right-click it and get properties...  you will get a URL for the image itself.
You then copy this URL and paste it into the forums between a set of Image calls...  its one of the buttons below when writing posts here...  it should look like this:

OK, got it Jack! :) It's kind of what I thought -- there is only a thumbnail for me until it actually has real data on the map.

Why wouldnt it last long?  It updates as your users update and such...

also as your user update, the circles get larger to show where more users are concentrated...



Also there are 2 images, not just 1...  there is one with smaller "clustr"s

Yes, I'm still playing around with the map! lol

I read something in their FAQ that says having the map visible on every page of a discussion forum will generate too many visits... one per each page view.  I moved it to appear in the middle of the Home page, so it will only register whenever someone enters the site or refreshes the Home page.  Hopefully that will keep them from saying we have too much traffic to use the service. :)

Just to get a picture of where members are from... and it does NOT rely on people to sign in, so it's more accurate than the Buddy Map or what country you all put in your profiles (since only about 50% fill out their profile). :)

It updated again with 10,000 new visits.  I can definitely see more dots over South Africa.... and some even in the middle of Australia! eek  I wonder who the big dot is over the Canary Islands, too.

So moving the Home page thumbnail map from the Left block to the Center has been a good thing.  We were definitely over their 2,500 hits per day allowable for the first 2 days.  Since I moved the map and it doesn't show as people move around the Forums, we're running about 1,500 hits per day, so within range. :)

We updated Sunday, but the map updates won't be daily any more, as we need a certain percentage new dots in order for the map to update.

Visits on previous 'day': 2,530.

Got over that magic 2,500 number for a day thanks to everyone wanting the new song. lol
