First, a huge apology to everyone who is awake when I'm not and has to suffer through the horribly slow website performance nearly every day. After over a month of harassing them, the web hosts think it has something to do with our DNS settings (what ties the name to the IP address). They are going to take over control of that, which will lead to some time on Sunday when the website will not be available to anyone. They've told me they'll make a change after midnight US Eastern time (30 minutes from now) and then I should change the name servers with the registrar after 7:30am. It usually takes 6-8 hours before the site comes back up. If this fixes the problems for good, then I'm sure you'll all be happy to have the site unavailable for a few hours.
If this does not fix the slowness, then it will be Wednesday night when I get home from a business trip before I can harass them again to properly diagnose the problem. I have my fingers crossed that this is really it... I don't understand why we were fine with our current DNS configuration for 6 months before the slow periods started, but they won't look for any other problems until we prove whether or not their current diagnosis is correct.
After my business trip, I will be on vacation until October 30. I know this is bad timing with promotion season getting into full swing. New videos will be uploaded FIRST in the Forums by whoever encodes them. Yaara has volunteered to babysit the website and get the files uploaded by members onto the server and up in the Downloads for all of you while I am away.

WESTLIFE OUT AND ABOUT
Westlife (minus Nicky) and their partners attended the Pink Ice Ball on October 5th. All 4 members attended the Pride of Britain Awards last Tuesday. The program aired Wednesday on ITV1. The guys did not perform or give out any awards but there were a few shots of them in the audience.

Arenas in the UK are now telling people who call that dates for the tour are set and tickets go on sale this week. Tickermaster still shows nothing, but keeping checking it or westlife.com for the official info!

I apologize for the trouble some people have been having with recent videos. They all play fine on my PC, so I'm not aware that there are problems until uploading them. Having so many members helping out with recording or saving files from online inevitably means many different video formats. If you play a video and have no sound or no picture, you are missing a codec. Because my PC is almost 4 years old, I installed the codecs ages ago and have no clue what exactly any memeber may be missing. Try these websites for the main codecs:

SPECIAL NOTES
A reminder for the many newbies: If you click the "Broken Downloads" button and do not tell me what is wrong, I will delete your message and not reply. I can't read minds!!! It's unbelievable how many people still sign up and do this. Most of the time the "problems" are just members not using the recommended download managers and not getting full files or members trying to download the password-protected Video Requests without donating. Read the Help or FAQ FIRST!
Also for recent newbies: If you have a credit card, or know someone who does, you can donate an annual fee of $5 via PayPal (or send US$ or euro cash via snail mail) to access all of my older videos on a by-request basis. The money goes to reimburse my server costs. I will not be able to respond to anyone who donates while I am away, sorry.
