I talked to the web hosts today about how AWFUL and slow the website has been this week, and this guy finally admitted there's something wrong with the server and not the usual crap about how the software is out of date, too many people are online, the name servers aren't set up right, etc. He saw an error than means the server hard drive is dying!
I put in a request for them to go ahead and back up the data (which they charge me for) and move it to a new drive (which they'll set up for free....as they should). I doubt it'll happen in the next 24 hours due to Easter. The site will definitely be down while they're moving the data to a new hard drive.
He also said there is some remaining set-up work for me to do once it's moved... stuff I haven't a clue how to do. Hopefully they can move the data during the day on Monday and I can try to figure out how to set it up to run a website on Monday night. But don't be surprised if it takes longer..... It took us 10 days to get the website running on the server in February of last year. So just be patient, we'll be back as soon as we can. And I sure hope this is the right diagnosis this time and it fixes our problems once and for all!!!!!
